Planning a wedding abroad
Most couples marry in Sri Lanka between December and April, when the south and west coasts are dry. For the east coast, June to September is best. We recommend starting the paperwork six to nine months ahead and keeping at least two days between arrival and the ceremony, so that jet lag does not spoil the day.
Types of ceremony
A legal ceremony is conducted by a Sri Lankan registrar and produces a marriage certificate. A symbolic ceremony or blessing has no legal effect but gives complete freedom of place and style – many couples marry legally at home and celebrate in Sri Lanka. A traditional Kandyan ceremony on a decorated poruwa platform, with drummers and dancers, can be part of either.
What we organise
Venue, registrar or celebrant, decoration and flowers, music and traditional performers, photographer and videographer, hair and make-up, a wedding dinner – and, of course, the honeymoon tour afterwards. We coordinate everything on the ground so you can focus on the day.
